Paleo Shepherd’s Pie

A Paleo take on the classic Shepherd's Pie. Simply substituting Cauliflower for Potato.


  • 2 heaped teaspoons Coconut Oil
  • 1 cup Onion (diced)
  • 2 Medium Carrot (diced)
  • 2 ribs Celery (diced)
  • 1lb Ground Turkey
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Rosemary ((or 1 teaspoon dried))
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth
  • 2 heads Mashed Cauliflower (Recipe available on the Primos site)


Step 1 Preheat oven to 400℉.
Step 2 Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 3 Add onion, carrots, and celery and cook until softened. About 3 minutes.
Step 4 Add ground turkey and cook until browned.
Step 5 Add remaining dry ingredients along with broth and simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 6 Transfer into pie dish or deep bakeware and cover with mashed cauliflower. Smooth over using back of large spoon. (You may not need all of the mashed cauliflower)
Step 7 Bake at 400℉ for 30 minutes.


For a less than strict approach, add 3 Tbsp of flour with rosemary, and thyme to create a rich gravy.
