Quick Paleo Meals
Whenever people ask me about what the Paleo lifestyle is all about, I spend a ton of time explaining exactly what it is that we eat. No matter how much time I spend on the topic I still get follow up questions about what I eat! People are often scared and turned off by the fact that the diet seems so limited. In reality, it’s not limited at all. People rarely want to give up those delicious sugary or carb loaded foods. I love them myself, but I can see what happens when I consume them. I was 235 pounds at my heaviest and my diet was full of breads, cheese, and sugary sodas and food. I didn’t have much energy and hated working out.
Today I weigh in at 200 pounds…I have lost 35 pounds in just under 6 months. Roughly 10 pounds of this are as a result of my current “Paleo” run. This is not an amazing number, but I have done it through changing my diet and working out 3 times a week. As the data shows, this is the most successful platform for weight loss. It has become more than just losing weight for me though. It is about being a healthier person and challenging myself to accomplish certain goals.
The 235 pounds I used to be is much different than the 200 pounds I am at today. I still have plenty of fat on my body…I WILL GET TO YOU SOON! But, I have a much more athletic build. I can run faster, jump higher, and lift more weight than I have ever been able to before. I owe it to my diet, my gym, and my support structure. I don’t think enough emphasis is placed on the latter of that list. Everyone knows eating right and going to the gym will eventually lead to a healthier, lighter you. But not enough credit is given to a persons support structure. Starting with my wife, everyone in my life is accommodating and motivating in this endeavor of mine. I could not accomplish what I have thus far without them. So I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who has helped or pushed me towards success with this lifestyle and website. THANK YOU!
You can do this too! But don’t make it harder than it has to be! For dinner yesterday at our station I threw together a quick Paleo meal in under 15 minutes! Pork chops, steamed brussels sprouts, and butternut squash. Quick meals are best when I’m working. You never know when the bells will go off and we will be out for lord knows how long. TJ’s sells chunked butternut squash that you can actually toss in the microwave to cook. I took advantage of it and tossed it in. I finished on a pan with some cinnamon, salt, and pepper. A quick delicious meal that is nothing but primal!
